THE ORIGINS- |

Of pre-roman origins, the town was given by the Earl of Aprutio to the Bishop of Ascoli. Near Campli, in Campovalano, an italic necropolis dating back to the 8th century B.C. was discovered.

WHAT TO SEE - |

Church of Santa Maria in Platea
Tha church was built at the end of the XIII century. Restructured several
times, it is rich in works of high artistic value. The walls have traces of the medieval building. The church-steeple dates back to the XIV century and was made by Antonio da Lodi.

S.Francesco Church
Rich in works of art, it was built in the XIII century and its name is due to a visit of S. Francesco to the town.
It's the most ancient church of Campli and was made by artists from Teramo.

Tempera House
It's located on the town main street and it presents an ancient stone main
door.

The Holy Stairs
It's inside S.Paolo Church, and it is called like that because an indulgence was given to those who climbed it on their
knees.

Archeological Museum
It exhibits all the archeological remains found in necropolis of
Campovalano.
